There are no rules!
These awards are intended to be very loosely structured, with citations pulled from informal categories that change from year-to-year, and might include Performance, Direction, Production, Design, Playwriting, Special Citations, Sustained Achievement, Emerging Artists and Companies, etc.
Not every category is necessarily awarded every year, and multiple choices in various categories may be chosen.
In other words, there are no nominees, no winners/losers, and no limit to the number of citations given in any category. And, in truth, there are no real “categories.”
The Silver Palm Awards are meant only to recognize extraordinary work in any area of theatre accomplished over a season (here designated as September 1st to August 31st) in South Florida, in an effort to further promote theatre in South Florida. The only stipulation is that the recipient must have residency in South Florida.
